PS4 with no picture — usually the HDMI port
This is the PlayStation fault we repair most often. The PS4 powers up normally — you hear it, the fan spins and the controller lights up — but the television stays black. It feels like the console has died, yet the cause is usually bent or broken pins in the HDMI socket, or the socket coming loose from the board.
Replacing the port is a routine job we normally finish the same day. If someone has already told you the motherboard has gone, ask us for a second opinion before you buy a new console.
PS3 Yellow Light of Death repairs
The YLoD happens when years of heating up and cooling down weaken the solder joints under the PS3’s graphics chip and processor. It can often be repaired by reflowing (re-melting the existing solder) or by reballing, where the chip is removed and fitted with fresh solder balls.
Success depends on the individual console, so we examine it and tell you honestly what the chances are before you commit. As board-level soldering, this work carries a three-month warranty unless we tell you otherwise when quoting.

Bringing your PlayStation to Dudley Street
We’re at 54-55 Dudley Street, WV1 3ER, on the street side of the Mander Centre, looking across at Starbucks and Metro Bank; McDonald’s is on one side of us and Greggs on the other. You can drop the console off and carry on with your day; hours are 10am–6pm Monday to Saturday, and Sunday is closed.
