iPhone 11 Screen Replacement Cost: What Sets the Price

What an iPhone 11 screen replacement really costs

The iPhone 11 screen replacement cost is set by four things, and none of them is the shop you walk into: the grade of display fitted, whether the damage is glass-only or panel-deep, whether the back glass or frame took the same impact, and whether the original components have to be transferred to keep True Tone and Face ID working. Get a live figure for your handset from our repair quote tool.

At CrC Repair® we fit iPhone 11 displays every day across our ten UK stores, and the biggest source of confusion at the counter is that customers assume every quote covers the same part. It does not. Two quotes can be a long way apart and both be honest — they are describing different components. This guide, written by our iPhone repair team, explains exactly what changes the number.

What actually determines the iPhone 11 screen replacement cost?

Five variables move the price. Once you know which apply to your handset, you can read any quote you are given and tell whether it is complete.

  1. Panel technology. The iPhone 11 uses an LCD Liquid Retina display, not OLED. That places it in a materially different part band from its Pro siblings.
  2. Part grade. Genuine Apple Service Pack, OEM-grade aftermarket, or budget copy — three tiers, three prices, three lifespans.
  3. Depth of damage. Cracked glass with a perfect image is a different job from a panel with black ink spread, dead touch zones or backlight loss.
  4. Collateral damage. A drop hard enough to break the screen often bends the chassis or cracks the rear glass. Both affect the fit of the new display.
  5. Component transfer. The earpiece, proximity sensor assembly and Face ID flex must be moved across from the old screen. Done badly, you lose Face ID permanently.

We do not publish fixed prices in blog posts because they move with part supply, and a stale figure helps nobody. Every model and fault is priced live on our screen repair service page instead.

Why the iPhone 11 sits in a different price band to the 11 Pro

This is the question we answer most often, and the answer is good news for iPhone 11 owners. The standard iPhone 11 shipped with an LCD panel. The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max shipped with OLED. OLED panels are structurally more complex, more expensive to manufacture and far less forgiving of impact, which is why an 11 Pro screen typically costs noticeably more to replace than an 11.

There is a practical consequence too. Because an LCD is backlit, a cracked iPhone 11 will often keep displaying a usable image long after the glass has shattered. Owners take that as permission to keep using it. We would not — every day the crack stays open, dust and moisture reach the backlight layers and the touch digitiser, and a job that was a straight display swap starts collecting extra faults.

LCD uses a backlight behind the pixel layer; OLED lights each pixel individually. That difference is most of the price gap.

Part grade: the three tiers of iPhone 11 display you will be quoted

Ask which of these three a quote refers to and the price differences stop looking mysterious.

Genuine Apple Service Pack

The same display assembly Apple supplies to its own authorised network, in Apple packaging, with Apple part traceability. The most expensive option and the one we recommend where a customer wants the handset to behave exactly as it did on day one. Offered through our Genuine Apple Service Pack programme.

OEM-grade aftermarket LCD

A high-specification aftermarket assembly built to the original panel specification, with a correctly laminated digitiser and proper backlight uniformity. This is the volume option for the iPhone 11 and, fitted with new adhesive, a repair we are happy to put our name to. Covered by our lifetime warranty on mobile phone screen repairs.

Budget copy panels

The cheapest tier, and the reason some online quotes look impossibly low. The tells are consistent: touch that lags at the edge of the panel, brightness that does not track the ambient light sensor smoothly, a slightly raised bezel, and a backlight that develops a warm patch within months. We do not fit them — see our repair quality standards.

What kind of damage pushes an iPhone 11 screen quote up?

Glass-only versus panel-deep damage

On an iPhone 11 the glass, digitiser and LCD are laminated into one assembly. There is no separate just the glass repair we would put a warranty behind, because splitting a laminated assembly and re-bonding it introduces dust and weakens the stack. Whether the image is perfect or ruined, the part fitted is the same — so cosmetic-only damage does not make the part cheaper. What it does make is the job cleaner and the diagnostic quicker.

Back glass damage on the same drop

Roughly a third of the iPhone 11 screen jobs that come through our stores also have rear glass damage. On the iPhone 11 the back glass is bonded to the chassis and is a separate, more involved repair — it is not folded into the screen price and should never be quoted as though it were.

Frame distortion

A corner impact can bow the aluminium frame by a fraction of a millimetre. That is enough that a new display will not seat flat, and a display that does not seat flat will crack again at the first flex. A competent technician checks the frame on a flat plate before fitting. If the frame needs straightening, that is extra work, and a quote that ignores it is a quote for a repair that will come back.

True Tone and Face ID component transfer

The earpiece speaker, ambient light sensor and flood illuminator flex sit on the back of the original display and have to be transferred. The Face ID flex is paired to the logic board at the factory — damage it during transfer and Face ID is gone for good, with no part swap that brings it back. This is the most common way a cheap iPhone 11 screen repair turns expensive.

Does the iPhone 11 have parts pairing?

Parts pairing — where the phone recognises whether a component was fitted at the factory — became a much bigger factor from iPhone 12 onwards. On the iPhone 11 the practical issues are narrower but still real: True Tone depends on data held on the original display, and the Face ID assembly is board-paired.

Ask any repairer three questions before you hand the phone over: will True Tone still work afterwards, will Face ID still work afterwards, and what happens if either fails on the bench. A shop that answers those precisely is a shop that has done the repair properly before.

Green line faults: the one screen problem a warranty will not cover

A vertical green or coloured line running down the display is not a manufacturing defect and it is not a fitting error. It is the signature of impact or pressure damage to the panel driver circuitry — and it appears frequently with no visible external mark at all.

We are direct about this because customers deserve to know before, not after: green line faults are classed as physical damage and are not covered under warranty, even where there is no visible external damage. The repair is a display replacement, priced as a new repair.

Face ID handled carefully

Component transfer is the step that ruins cheap repairs. Ours is done deliberately, and tested before the phone is closed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to fix an iPhone 11 screen?

The iPhone 11 screen replacement cost depends on the display grade fitted, whether the back glass or frame is also damaged, and whether component transfer is straightforward. We price every handset live rather than publishing a figure that goes stale — enter your model on our booking page for a current quote.

Is an iPhone 11 screen cheaper to replace than an 11 Pro?

Yes, generally. The iPhone 11 uses an LCD panel while the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max use OLED. OLED assemblies cost significantly more to source, so the Pro models sit in a higher band for the same repair.

Can you replace just the glass on an iPhone 11?

Not as a warrantable repair. The glass, touch digitiser and LCD are laminated into a single assembly. Separating and re-bonding them introduces dust between the layers and weakens the structure, so we replace the complete assembly instead.

Will Face ID still work after a screen replacement?

Yes, provided the Face ID flex assembly is transferred from the original display without damage. That flex is paired to the logic board at the factory and cannot be replaced with a new one, which is why careful transfer matters far more than the price of the panel.

Is an iPhone 11 screen repair covered by a warranty?

Yes. CrC Repair® provides a lifetime warranty on mobile phone screen repairs. Green line faults are the exception — they are classed as physical damage and are not covered, even where there is no visible external damage to the handset.

Is my iPhone 11 still water resistant after a screen replacement?

Water resistance depends on the display adhesive being fully replaced and correctly seated. We fit fresh adhesive on every screen repair, but no repaired handset should be treated as having its original factory rating — treat it as splash resistant, not submersible.

Should I replace an iPhone 11 screen or replace the phone?

For most iPhone 11 owners, a screen replacement is a fraction of the cost of a comparable handset and the model still receives current iOS updates. Replacing the phone makes more sense only where the board is water damaged or several major components have failed together.
