Why OLED makes this repair dearer
An OLED panel lights every pixel individually — there is no backlight layer. That gives the 13 its deep blacks and its contrast, and it also makes the panel thinner, more integrated and far less forgiving of impact than the backlit LCD in an iPhone 11. When an OLED cracks, the damage more often reaches the pixel layer itself, which is why a 13 with a small crack can show black blotches or coloured lines where an 11 would soldier on.
There is a knock-on effect worth knowing before you compare quotes with an older phone’s: because the panel is the expensive layer, the gap between a good aftermarket OLED and a budget copy is wider on the 13 than it ever was on LCD models. A copy panel shows its corners quickly — muted colour, a warm cast at low brightness, and touch that misses at the edges. The 13 family: what changes by model
One generation, four handsets, two panel specifications. The quote should always name your exact model.
iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13
The standard pair share the 60Hz OLED specification, so their panels sit in the same band, separated mainly by size and availability — mini parts are scarcer as the model ages.
iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max
The Pro pair use 120Hz ProMotion panels — a genuinely different, dearer part. A quote that does not distinguish a 13 from a 13 Pro is a quote to walk away from.
Parts pairing on the iPhone 13
The iPhone 13 sits firmly in the parts-pairing era: Apple pairs the display to the logic board at the factory. After any screen replacement the phone may show a message that the display could not be verified as genuine, and True Tone depends on data carried over from the original panel. This is normal behaviour, not a fault with the repair — but you should hear it before the job, not after.

Beyond the panel: what else the drop broke
A drop hard enough to crack an OLED rarely stops at the glass, and the honest quote checks three things before naming a number:
- The frame. A corner impact can bow the aluminium by a fraction of a millimetre — enough that a new display will not seat flat, and a display that does not seat flat cracks again at the first flex. We check the frame on a flat plate before fitting, every time.
- The back glass. The 13’s rear panel breaks in the same drops that break the front, and it is a separate, bonded repair — never silently folded into a screen price.
- The seal. Every screen job ends with fresh display adhesive, because the adhesive is what stood between your phone and the rain. Treat any repaired handset as splash resistant, not submersible.
